Independent installation and repair for Okuma’s OMR10 and OMR20 mobile collaborative robots — including the control electronics, sensors and drives behind them.
What the OMR Series Is
The Okuma Mobile Robot (OMR) Series is a mobile collaborative robot — a cobot on a movable base rather than fixed in one place — designed for high-mix, low-volume production. A single unit can connect to up to 10 machines, moving between them rather than being permanently dedicated to just one, which makes it a genuinely different automation strategy from ARMROID or STANDROID.
OMR is designed around fast changeovers: stocker setup for a workpiece change takes roughly one minute, and starting up a completely new workpiece takes around ten minutes with parameter entry and a setup-saving stocker. Because it’s collaborative by design, no safety fence is required, and operators can still access the front of the machine even with an OMR unit docked in position. Two sizes are available — OMR10, with a 5kg workpiece payload, and OMR20, at 10kg.

Three-Jaw Workpiece Hand
Gripper for holding round or shaft-type workpieces securely during transfer.

What We Repair on the OMR Series
Because the OMR moves between machines rather than staying fixed to one, its navigation and docking electronics see wear patterns that fixed cells don’t. Here’s what we work on.
Robot Control Boards
Coordinate the arm’s motion and communicate with whichever machine the unit is currently docked at.
Arm & Base Servo Drives
Amplifiers for both the arm’s joints and the mobile base itself. A drive fault can affect either motion or positioning accuracy.
Docking & Positioning Sensors
Confirm the unit is precisely positioned before it starts working with a machine. A drift here causes misalignment at pickup or placement.
Joint Encoders & Feedback
Report the arm’s exact position back to the control. A failing encoder causes drift that’s easy to mistake for mechanical wear.
Parameter Interface & Display
The panel used to enter workpiece parameters and manage the setup-saving stocker. We repair the display and interface boards behind it.
Power Supply Units
Regulates voltage to the unit’s onboard control and drive electronics — one of the first things we check on any fault.
Common OMR Faults
Misalignment when docking at a machine
Usually a positioning sensor rather than a mechanical issue with the base — we test docking accuracy at each machine the unit is assigned to.
Arm loses position or won’t move
Typically traced to a specific joint’s servo drive or encoder — we test each individually rather than assuming the whole arm needs replacement.
Saved parameters not loading correctly
Often a stocker memory or interface board fault rather than an operator error — worth checking before re-entering settings from scratch.
Interface unresponsive or frozen
Display and interface board faults are common on units that have been running for years — usually repairable at board level.

No. We are an independent service company, not an authorized Okuma dealer, distributor or service partner. We install, retrofit and repair OMR units on compatible machines.
STANDROID is dedicated to a single machine. OMR is mobile — a single unit can serve up to 10 machines by moving between them, which suits shops with more machines than they can justify dedicating a robot to individually.
No — OMR is collaborative by design, so a safety fence isn’t required, and operators can still work at the front of the machine even with the unit docked in position.
Our repair focus is the control electronics, servo drives, sensors and interface boards — the parts of an OMR fault that are almost always the root cause of a unit that’s stopped working. We don’t perform mechanical arm repairs.
