What Is Okuma CNC Preventive Maintenance?
Reactive repair fixes a fault after it stops your machine. Preventive maintenance catches the marginal component before that happens — a fan that's slowing down but hasn't seized yet, a capacitor that's drifted but hasn't failed outright, a way lube unit running low on fresh oil, a ground connection that's degraded enough to cause noise but not enough to trip an alarm. None of these show up until they cause a problem, which is exactly why a scheduled check catches them while they're still cheap and easy to fix.
We're a full-service shop, not an electronics-only specialist. That means the same visit covers electronic checks — incoming voltage and power quality, fan condition in the control cabinet and CPU, grounding integrity, capacitor and connector health — alongside the mechanical and lubrication side: coolant tank cleaning, way lube unit servicing, hydraulic fluid and filter checks, and radiator cleaning. Okuma's own preventive maintenance guidance covers this same full range, from primary incoming voltage and heat exchanger fan cleaning through coolant tank cleaning, hydraulic fluid replacement, and fresh way lube.

Current-generation OSP controls include Okuma's own Maintenance Suite, which tracks inspection schedules and gives on-screen alerts when maintenance is due. That's a genuinely useful scheduling tool, but it doesn't replace hands-on inspection — it tells you when to check, not what condition things are actually in. Our service is the hands-on half: real measurements, real physical inspection across both fluid and electronic systems, and a written report on what we found.

How This Complements Okuma's Maintenance Suite
Current-generation OSP controls include Okuma's own Maintenance Suite, a built-in interface that tracks inspection schedules and shows recommended timing and locations directly on screen, with manuals a button-press away. It's a genuinely good scheduling tool — it makes sure maintenance doesn't get forgotten in the middle of a busy production run.
What it doesn't do is tell you the actual condition of a capacitor, a fan bearing, a ground connection, or the coolant sitting in your tank. The Maintenance Suite reminds you it's time to check; our service is the actual checking — real measurements, real physical inspection across both the electronics and the fluid systems, and a written finding you can act on. The two work well together: their system keeps the schedule, we do the hands-on work, mechanical and electronic alike.
On older, legacy-generation machines without a Maintenance Suite, we can help you build a sensible check schedule from scratch based on the machine's age, duty cycle and environment.
