Okuma CNC Repair Services in Heraklion
Control electronics, servo drive and mechanical repair for Okuma machine tools across Heraklion — Crete’s agricultural, agrifood and machinery centre, across the sea from the mainland.
Okuma Repair Support for Heraklion Manufacturers
Heraklion is the largest city on Crete and the industrial centre of the island — a base for agricultural-equipment and agrifood processing, food and beverage production, machinery, and the engineering shops that keep a large island economy running.
For an island facility, ship-in is very much the practical model: send us the specific faulty component and we diagnose and repair it at board level on our German bench, then send it back. On-site is possible, but at Greece’s distance — and with ferry logistics to the island — ship-in is almost always the better route.
For close to twenty years we’ve focused only on Okuma’s OSP control — a different platform from the FANUC and Siemens systems most general repairers know, and the reason Heraklion’s manufacturers reach out to us despite the distance.
Common Faults on Heraklion Okuma Machines
Mediterranean heat & thermal faults
Crete’s hot, dry summers push cooling and power electronics harder — thermal stress and shutdowns are a leading environmental factor on an island machine.
Coastal salt-air & humidity
Salt-laden island air drives gradual connector and contact corrosion — a frequent hidden cause of intermittent faults we check for early.
OSP control board faults
Corrupted parameter memory, dying backup batteries and failed power-supply components remain common reasons an OSP control won’t boot or throws alarms.
Servo & spindle drive faults
Overcurrent trips and feedback errors present as an axis or spindle that won’t move correctly — we bench-test the drive electronics directly rather than assuming a motor issue.
See our fault analysis and testing & diagnostics services for more on our diagnostic approach.
Crete — Island Industry Across the Sea
Heraklion’s work centres on the island’s agricultural and agrifood economy — equipment for farming, processing and food-and-beverage production — alongside general machinery and engineering, so the Okuma work here spans robust production machining and finer component work.
The island setting adds ferry logistics to the usual distance, which is exactly why ship-in is the sensible model — we plan the sea-crossing shipping realistically rather than pretend it isn’t a factor.
Crete’s hot, dry Mediterranean climate and salt-laden coastal air mean summer thermal stress and gradual connector corrosion are the leading environmental factors. Power is the European-standard 230V/400V at 50Hz, matching Germany.
Industries We Support Around Heraklion
The region’s manufacturing has its own character — here are the sectors we most often support locally.
Agricultural Equipment
Components for the island’s agricultural-machinery and farming-equipment sector.
Agrifood & Beverage
Machining for Crete’s food, beverage and agrifood-processing industry.
Machinery & Engineering
Sub-assembly and machinery work for the island’s engineering base.
Marine & Port
Component work for the island’s marine and port equipment.
Metal Fabrication
Structural and general fabrication combined with Okuma machining.
General Machining & Job Shops
Contract shops keeping the island’s supply chain running.
Okuma Machines & OSP Controls We Support
We’re not tied to one machine family: the full Okuma CNC range is supported from your Heraklion facility — lathes and turning centers, MULTUS mill-turn, vertical and horizontal machining centers, 5-axis and double-column machines, grinders and older legacy platforms. Start from the Okuma models directory or the list of components we repair.
OSP is where Okuma differs most from other builders — it’s their in-house control, so FANUC or Siemens experience doesn’t transfer cleanly. We repair the whole OSP line, from OSP5000 and OSP700 through the P100–P300 generations to the current OSP-P500. A nameplate photo is enough for us to pin down the exact generation before anything ships.
Shipping a Repair From Heraklion to Our German Bench
For Heraklion, ship-in is the practical model: send us the specific faulty component and we diagnose and repair it at board level on our German bench, then send it back. On-site visits are possible, but at Greece’s distance ship-in is almost always the better route.
Describe the Fault
Machine model, OSP control generation, alarm codes and a description or photo of what’s happening.
We Confirm the Component
We identify exactly what needs to ship, and how to remove it safely, before anything is disconnected.
Bench Repair in Germany
Diagnosed and repaired at component level on our workbench, not simply swapped for new.
Tested & Returned
Verified under load, then returned by courier to your Heraklion facility, ready to reinstall.
We support Heraklion and the wider island of Crete — including Chania, Rethymno and the agricultural interior. And we do travel — for a fault that genuinely needs hands-on diagnosis we can arrange an on-site engineer visit anywhere in Greece; ship-in is simply the standard given the distance, and for the islands the added ferry logistics. Our emergency & express repair and retrofit & modernization services cover both paths in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — ship-in works the same regardless of distance. We plan the ferry and sea-crossing logistics realistically and confirm the shipping options up front.
Yes — hot summers push cooling and power electronics harder, and salt-laden air corrodes connectors and contacts, so both are leading factors we check on a Crete machine.
Just the faulty component in almost every case. We’ll confirm what to remove and how to do it safely first.
Yes — for a fault that genuinely needs hands-on diagnosis we can arrange it; but with distance and ferry logistics, ship-in is almost always the better route.
