Okuma Repair Support for Gumi Manufacturers

Gumi is the heart of Korea’s electronics industry — a national industrial complex built around display-panel, mobile-device and electronics manufacturing, surrounded by the precision-machinery and automation makers that support it.

Distance is the defining fact of a Gumi repair, so the process is deliberately freight-friendly: isolate the faulty board or drive, ship just that component to Germany through Incheon’s air-cargo hub, and we return it repaired — regardless of where in the country you’re based.

We’ve worked on Okuma’s OSP platform, and little else, for close to twenty years — not the FANUC or Siemens controls most general repairers in Korea know. That focus is what lets us decode an OSP fault the local service company can’t.

The Electronics and Display Manufacturing Hub

Gumi’s electronics and display work is precision-driven, where feedback accuracy is everything — so on this kind of machining a drifting encoder or a marginal drive quietly erodes accuracy long before it stops the machine, and feedback and positioning faults get the first and closest attention.

Inland in the southeast, Gumi shares Korea’s pronounced seasonal swing — a hot, humid jangma-monsoon summer and a cold, dry winter — so the wide annual temperature range drives repeated expansion and contraction that stresses solder joints and connectors, with summer humidity adding condensation risk on top.

The electrical point is consistent across Korea: it runs 220V single-phase and 380V three-phase on a 60Hz grid, aligned with the American and Japanese standard rather than Europe’s 50Hz, so we confirm exact voltage and frequency before any repaired component ships back.

Okuma Machines & OSP Controls We Support

We’re not tied to one machine family: the full Okuma CNC range is supported from your Gumi facility — lathes and turning centers, MULTUS mill-turn, vertical and horizontal machining centers, 5-axis and double-column machines, grinders and older legacy platforms. Start from the Okuma models directory or the list of components we repair.

OSP is where Okuma differs most from other builders — it’s their in-house control, so FANUC or Siemens experience doesn’t transfer cleanly. We repair the whole OSP line, from OSP5000 and OSP700 through the P100–P300 generations to the current OSP-P500. A nameplate photo is enough for us to pin down the exact generation before anything ships.

Common Faults on Gumi Okuma Machines

Encoder & feedback drift

On electronics and display work, a failing encoder or scale causes gradual drift that ruins tolerance before it stops the machine — we check feedback accuracy directly rather than assuming a drive fault.

OSP control board faults

Corrupted parameter memory, dying backup batteries and failed power-supply components remain the most common reasons an OSP control won’t boot or throws intermittent alarms.

Thermal-cycling & condensation faults

Korea’s wide summer-to-winter swing stresses solder joints and connectors through repeated expansion and contraction, and jangma humidity adds condensation — both real suspects on an intermittent Gumi fault.

Servo & spindle drive faults

Overcurrent trips and feedback errors present as an axis or spindle that won’t move correctly — we bench-test the drive electronics directly rather than assuming a motor issue.

See our fault analysis and testing & diagnostics services for more on our diagnostic approach.

Getting an Okuma Repair To and From Gumi

Distance is the defining fact of a Gumi repair, so the process is deliberately freight-friendly: isolate the faulty board or drive, ship just that component to Germany through Incheon’s air-cargo hub, and we return it repaired — regardless of where in the country you’re based.

1

Describe the Fault

Machine model, OSP control generation, voltage, alarm codes and a description or photo of what’s happening.

2

We Confirm the Component

We identify exactly what needs to ship, and how to remove it safely, before anything is disconnected.

3

Bench Repair in Germany

Diagnosed and repaired at component level on our workbench, not simply swapped for new.

4

Tested & Flown Back

Verified under load at your machine’s voltage, then returned by international air-cargo through Incheon to your Gumi facility, ready to reinstall.

We support Gumi and the surrounding region — including the Gumi national industrial complex, Gimcheon, Chilgok and the interior southeast. And we do travel — for a fault that genuinely needs hands-on diagnosis we can arrange an on-site engineer visit anywhere in South Korea; ship-in is simply the standard given the distance. Our emergency & express repair and retrofit & modernization services cover both paths in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — that work needs fine, repeatable accuracy, so we pay particular attention to feedback and drive faults that erode tolerance before they ever stop a machine.
