Okuma Repair Support for Ukrainian Manufacturers

Ukraine’s manufacturing base includes a genuinely significant agricultural machinery sector — the country is one of the world’s largest grain exporters and the leading global exporter of sunflower oil, and the equipment supporting that production, along with a long-standing tradition of heavy engineering and machine building, keeps Okuma equipment working across the country. We recognize that current circumstances affect how manufacturers operate and how logistics work, and we’ve stayed committed to supporting Ukrainian customers throughout, adapting our process where needed.

We’ve spent close to twenty years focused specifically on Okuma’s OSP control platform — a genuinely different system from the FANUC and Siemens controls that most general CNC electronics repairers in the region are built around. If your OSP control is showing an alarm history nobody locally can decode, or a machine has been sitting idle waiting on a board nobody nearby stocks, that’s precisely the gap our specialization fills.

Given the realities of shipping and travel right now, ship-in repair — where you remove the specific faulty component and send it to our German workshop for bench-level repair — is our clear standard recommendation, and we work with each customer individually on the logistics that make sense for their situation. Electrically, Ukraine runs 230V/400V at 50Hz, the same standard used in Germany and across most of Europe, so components we repair return to service without any frequency or voltage adaptation.

A Committed, Flexible Approach to Logistics

We understand that current circumstances shape what’s realistic for Ukrainian manufacturers, and we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach here. In practice, that means we lean heavily toward ship-in repair, work with each customer to find a shipping route and timeline that fits their situation, and stay in direct communication throughout rather than assuming a standard process will apply. If your circumstances change or a shipment needs to be planned around specific constraints, tell us and we’ll adapt.

Common Faults on Ukrainian Okuma Machines

OSP control board faults

Corrupted parameter memory, dying backup batteries and failed power-supply components remain the most common reasons an OSP control won’t boot or throws intermittent alarms.

Servo & spindle drive faults

Overcurrent trips and encoder feedback errors typically present as an axis or spindle that won’t move correctly — we bench-test the drive electronics directly rather than assuming a motor issue.

Spindle bearing wear

Noise, vibration and finish-quality loss point toward bearing wear rather than an electronic fault, particularly on machines that have run for many years.

Display and operator panel faults

Dead pixels and unresponsive touchscreens are common on machines that have been in service for years — repairable at board level in most cases rather than needing a full panel replacement.

See our fault analysis and testing & diagnostics services for more on our diagnostic approach.

The OSP Control Platform

OSP is Okuma’s own control system, not a licensed FANUC or Siemens platform, with its own diagnostic tools and board architecture. We cover the complete range of OSP generations found in Ukraine — legacy floppy-disk-era controls like OSP3000 and OSP5000, the OSP-P100 through P300 generations common on most active machines today, and the current OSP-P500.

How Ship-In Repair Works From Ukraine

We keep this process simple and adaptable to your specific situation.

1

Describe the Fault

Machine model, OSP control generation, alarm codes and a description or photo of what’s happening.

2

We Plan Logistics Together

We discuss a realistic shipping route and timeline based on your specific circumstances.

3

Bench Repair in Germany

Diagnosed and repaired at component level on our workbench, not simply swapped for new.

4

Tested & Shipped Back

Verified under load, then shipped back once a safe, workable route is arranged.

See our fault analysis and testing & diagnostics services for more on our diagnostic approach.
