Okuma Repair Support for Sharjah Manufacturers

Sharjah is the manufacturing heartland of the UAE — the most industrialised emirate, with a dense base of metal fabrication, machinery and general manufacturing, light industry and a growing precision- and electronics-engineering sector.

For Sharjah, ship-in is the practical model: send us the specific faulty component and we diagnose and repair it at board level on our German bench, then return it through the Emirates’ fast air-cargo links. On-site visits are possible, but at the UAE’s distance ship-in is almost always the better route.

Okuma’s OSP control is all we do, and has been for close to twenty years — a genuinely different system from the FANUC and Siemens controls most repairers in the region are set up for, and the reason customers reach past their local service company to us.

Common Faults on Sharjah Okuma Machines

OSP control board faults

Corrupted parameter memory, dying backup batteries and failed power-supply components are the most common reasons an OSP control won’t boot or throws intermittent alarms.

Servo & spindle drive faults

Overcurrent trips and encoder feedback errors usually show up as an axis or spindle that won’t move correctly — we bench-test the drive electronics directly rather than blaming the motor.

Desert heat & dust faults

Extreme summer heat and shamal-driven fine dust push cooling harder and foul contacts — thermal stress and intermittent, dust-related faults are common here.

Encoder & feedback drift

On precision work, a failing encoder or scale causes gradual drift that’s easy to mistake for a drive fault — we check feedback accuracy directly.

See our fault analysis and testing & diagnostics services for more on our diagnostic approach.

The Manufacturing Heartland of the Emirates

Sharjah’s manufacturing base is broad — metal fabrication, machinery, light industry and precision engineering — so we keep an open mind on failure modes and let each machine’s actual duty guide the diagnosis rather than assuming a single pattern.

The environment is demanding: summer heat passes 45°C, shamal winds carry fine dust that fouls contacts and chokes cooling, and the Gulf-coast air adds salt-laden humidity — so heat, dust and coastal corrosion are all things we check on a Sharjah fault report.

The electrical side works in your favour: the UAE runs 230V/400V at 50Hz, the same standard as our German bench, so a repaired component is verified under exactly the conditions it will meet back on your floor, with no adaptation needed.

Okuma Machines & OSP Controls We Support

We’re not tied to one machine family: the full Okuma CNC range is supported from your Sharjah facility — lathes and turning centers, MULTUS mill-turn, vertical and horizontal machining centers, 5-axis and double-column machines, grinders and older legacy platforms. Start from the Okuma models directory or the list of components we repair.

OSP is where Okuma differs most from other builders — it’s their in-house control, so FANUC or Siemens experience doesn’t transfer cleanly. We repair the whole OSP line, from OSP5000 and OSP700 through the P100–P300 generations to the current OSP-P500. A nameplate photo is enough for us to pin down the exact generation before anything ships.

Shipping a Repair From Sharjah to Our German Bench

For Sharjah, ship-in is the practical model: send us the specific faulty component and we diagnose and repair it at board level on our German bench, then send it back. On-site visits are possible, but at the UAE’s distance ship-in is almost always the better route.

1

Describe the Fault

Machine model, OSP control generation, voltage, alarm codes and a description or photo of what’s happening.

2

We Confirm the Component

We identify exactly what needs to ship, and how to remove it safely, before anything is disconnected.

3

Bench Repair in Germany

Diagnosed and repaired at component level on our workbench, not simply swapped for new.

4

Tested & Flown Back

Verified under load at your machine’s voltage — and, being 50Hz like ours, at its true running frequency — then returned by air-cargo through Dubai to your Sharjah facility, ready to reinstall.

We support Sharjah and the surrounding emirate — including the Sharjah industrial areas, Hamriyah free zone, Al Sajaa and the wider region. And we do travel — for a fault that genuinely needs hands-on diagnosis we can arrange an on-site engineer visit anywhere in the Emirates; ship-in is simply the standard given the distance. Our emergency & express repair and retrofit & modernization services cover both paths in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all — the UAE runs 230V/400V at 50Hz, the same standard as our German bench, so we test a repaired component under conditions that match your machine directly.
