Certain drive and power-supply components inside an OSP control cabinet are frequency- and voltage-specific, so confirming exactly which electrical standard your machine’s cabinet was built for is one of the first things we check before sourcing a replacement part.

Common Faults on U.S.-Spec Okuma Machines
The failure categories themselves aren’t unique to America, but the specifics of a 60Hz, 480V three-phase installation change what we look for compared with a European machine.
Power supply and frequency-related faults
Components rated for 50Hz operation can behave unpredictably on a 60Hz supply, and vice versa — this is one of the first things we rule in or out on any U.S.-market repair, particularly on older transformer-based power supplies.
OSP control board failures
Failed capacitors, corrupted parameter memory and dead backup batteries remain the most common cause of a control that won’t boot or throws intermittent alarms — the same core failure pattern we see everywhere, U.S. installations included.
Servo & spindle drive faults
Overcurrent trips and IGBT failures on 480V three-phase drives need to be diagnosed with that voltage rating specifically in mind — a drive spec’d for 400V behaves differently under fault conditions than one built for the U.S. standard.

The OSP Control Platform — What Makes It Different
OSP is Okuma’s own control system, not a licensed FANUC or Siemens platform, and it comes with its own diagnostic tools, board layouts and repair conventions.
