smarTwinCELL Setup & Configuration Support

Independent setup, configuration and control-electronics repair support for Okuma’s smarTwinCELL digital twin system — a software configuration project, not a physical installation, explained below.

What smarTwinCELL Is, and an Honest Note on Scope

smarTwinCELL is Okuma’s digital twin system for automated cells, connecting a machine tool, a robotic system and any peripheral equipment to automate workpiece loading, unloading, measurement and related operations. Its defining feature is the split between where things run: the actual controller sits on the shop floor, while a simulator can run in the office or any offline location, letting you build 3D part models, review the complete process, and estimate cycle times in virtual space before committing floor time to prove it out. It’s built on the digital twin technology in Okuma’s OSP-P500 control, with real-time data feedback between the running machine and the simulation.

Unlike the physical automation products in our lineup, there’s no hardware to bolt onto a machine here — smarTwinCELL is fundamentally a configuration and setup project. We want to be upfront about that: what we offer is help setting up and configuring smarTwinCELL for your specific cell, plus repair of the underlying OSP-P500 control electronics if something on the hardware side fails.

We are an independent service provider — see our testing & diagnostics and control repair services for more on the OSP-P500 work we do.

What’s Involved

smarTwinCELL combines a few distinct pieces, mostly software. Here’s what’s involved, and specifically what falls into our scope of work.

OSP-P500 Digital Twin Engine

The underlying simulation technology built into the control — this is what makes smarTwinCELL possible in the first place.

Offline PC Simulator

Where 3D part models and process plans are built and reviewed away from the shop floor.

ROID Navi Parameter Setup

Sets start and end points for automated motion, with paths generated automatically.

PLC Ladder & Pulse Handle Integration

Connects the simulated cell logic to real machine operability on the shop floor.

Common smarTwinCELL Issues

Simulator falls out of sync with the running machine

Usually a real-time feedback interface fault rather than a software bug — we check the hardware connection before assuming a configuration issue.

Cell components not responding to simulated commands

Typically a drive fault on the specific robot or peripheral involved, not a smarTwinCELL-wide issue — we test each component independently.

Cycle time estimates don’t match real production

Often a configuration or parameter-setup issue rather than a hardware fault — this is where our setup support, not repair, applies.

Shop-floor interface unresponsive

Display and interface board faults are common on units that have been running for years — usually repairable at board level.

See our fault analysis service for more on how we approach an OSP-P500 diagnosis.

How Setup, Configuration & Repair Works

Whether you’re setting up smarTwinCELL for the first time or repairing a hardware fault, the process starts the same way.

1

Tell Us the Goal

First-time setup and configuration, or a fault on an existing system — plus your OSP-P500 configuration and the robotic/peripheral equipment involved.

2

We Scope the Work

For setup, we confirm your cell’s components and configuration goals. For repairs, we identify the faulty board or interface.

3

Configure or Repair

Remote or on-site configuration support, or component-level bench repair — whichever the job calls for.

4

Verified Before Handover

Simulation checked against real machine behavior, or the repaired part tested under load, before we call it done.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. We are an independent service company, not an authorized Okuma dealer, distributor or service partner. We support setup, configuration and OSP-P500 hardware repair for smarTwinCELL systems.
