Every repair we do for customers around the world runs through our German workshop — which means for customers actually in Germany, there’s no shipping decision to make, no cross-border logistics to plan around, and no waiting on international freight. We can typically be on-site faster here than anywhere else we support, and for component-level repairs, turnaround times are as short as they get.

Germany’s manufacturing base is also where a huge share of our day-to-day repair experience comes from. Close to twenty years working on Okuma’s OSP control platform, largely on machines running in German Mittelstand shops — the specialized, export-focused small and mid-size manufacturers that make up the backbone of German Maschinenbau — means we’ve seen an unusually wide cross-section of OSP faults, configurations, and retrofit histories. If a control is behaving strangely after years of service, there’s a good chance we’ve already diagnosed the same pattern on a machine down the road.

Electrically, there’s nothing to check here that isn’t already the baseline: 230V/400V at 50Hz is simply the German standard our components are built and tested against from the start.

A German customer can call, describe a fault, and have us on-site or working the component in our own workshop the same day in many cases, with none of the coordination overhead that comes with an international repair. If a fault is genuinely urgent, we’re not routing it through a shipping decision first.

Tool-change failures are usually mechanical or sensor issues rather than control faults, though we always confirm the control’s tool-change logic first to rule out a software-side cause.

The OSP Control Platform

OSP is Okuma’s own control system, not a licensed FANUC or Siemens platform, with its own diagnostic tools and board architecture. We cover the complete range of OSP generations found in Germany — legacy floppy-disk-era controls like OSP3000 and OSP5000, the OSP-P100 through P300 generations common on most active machines today, and the current OSP-P500.
